Anmol Bishnoi
In a significant development for Indian law enforcement, the Mumbai Police have begun the extradition process for Anmol Bishnoi, who is accused of a shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence. This action follows an alert from US authorities regarding Anmol’s presence on American soil, marking a critical step in addressing his alleged criminal activities.
Anmol Bishnoi, 25, is the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and has been implicated in a range of high-profile cases, including the shooting incident involving Salman Khan. Last month, the Mumbai Police filed a petition in a special court to seek permission for extradition proceedings. On October 16, they notified the court of their intent to bring Anmol back to India to face charges related to the Salman Khan case.
According to a senior police official, Anmol has been linked to orchestrating various operations on behalf of his brother, who is currently incarcerated in Sabarmati jail in Gujarat. In addition to the extradition efforts, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to Anmol’s arrest, placing him on their most wanted list due to his involvement in the April firing incident.
Anmol Bishnoi, also known as Bhanu, is believed to be residing in Canada while frequently traveling to the US. Unnamed officials informed news agency PTI about the bounty and the ongoing search for him. Additionally, he is suspected of being connected to the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, which occurred on October 12 in Bandra, Mumbai.
Recently, a Mumbai court denied bail to one of the two suspects arrested in the Salman Khan shooting incident, citing their intent to kill the actor based on Anmol Bishnoi’s instigation. Both Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi, who come from Fazilka in Punjab, have been designated as wanted suspects in this ongoing investigation.
