On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the government is scheduled to launch the 18th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) initiative. The scheme would cost ₹20,000 crore, of which ₹2,000 will be transferred to nearly 9.5 crore farmers nationwide.
Prior to this, on June 18, 2024, the 17th installment was paid out. Approximately 9.25 crore farmers received the ₹2,000 amount, meaning that an additional 25 lakh farmers are now beneficiaries.

Who is Eligible?
The program will give ₹6,000 yearly, divided into three equal installments of ₹2,000 each, to small and marginal farmers in India. Their bank accounts receive a direct transfer of the monies.
Farmers who possess fewer than two hectares of land are eligible.
To be eligible for PM-KISAN, farmers must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must own agricultural land.
- The land should be registered in the farmer’s name.
- Institutional landholders and those paying income tax are not eligible.
How to Complete eKYC?
Farmers can check their eligibility and even if they are already enrolled in the scheme through the following steps.
The eKYC process is mandatory for all beneficiaries. Here’s how you can do it:
- Online via PM-KISAN Portal:
- Visit the official PM-KISAN website.
- Under the “Farmers Corner” section, click on “eKYC.”
- Enter your Aadhaar number and follow the steps to verify through an OTP.
- Offline via CSCs:
- Visit the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) to complete the biometric authentication.
