Contaminated Momos
In Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills area, a tragic incident led to the death of a woman and left over 20 people ill after consuming momos from a vendor in Singadikunta’s weekend market. The woman reportedly became unwell soon after eating the momos, and despite prompt medical assistance, she sadly passed away. More than 20 others who consumed the snack reported symptoms of food poisoning, including severe stomach pain and vomiting. They were taken to nearby hospitals, where their conditions are being closely monitored.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to identify the source of contamination. Initial findings suggest possible negligence in food preparation and hygiene standards by the vendor. Public health officials have advised people to exercise caution and prioritize food safety when buying street food, particularly in crowded markets. This incident has highlighted food safety issues in Hyderabad’s popular street food culture, sparking calls for stricter regulations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
