‘Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain’
In a high-energy rally in Akola on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong attack on the Congress Party ahead of the Maharashtra assembly election. Addressing a packed crowd, PM Modi accused the Congress of using states under its governance as financial sources, likening them to “ATMs” for the party’s elite.PM Modi Accuses Congress of Using States as ‘ATMs’ in Akola Rally, Urges Unity with ‘Ek Hain Toh Safe Hain’
“Wherever a Congress government is formed, that state becomes the ATM of the party’s ‘shahi parivar’ (royal family). We won’t let Maharashtra become the ATM of the Congress,” Modi asserted, stirring applause from supporters. The Prime Minister’s comments were aimed at highlighting what he described as a pattern of exploitation and financial misuse by the Congress when in power.
Further intensifying his criticism, PM Modi turned to Congress’s relationship with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s legacy. He questioned Congress’s dedication to Ambedkar’s contributions and challenged the party to prove its commitment. “I challenge the shahi parivar of the Congress to prove if they ever visited Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s panchteerth,” Modi declared. He referenced “panchteerth” as the five significant sites associated with Ambedkar’s life and work: his birthplace in Mhow, his residence in London, Deeksha Bhoomi in Nagpur where he embraced Buddhism, Mahaparinirvan Sthal in Delhi, and Chaitya Bhoomi in Mumbai.
Modi’s words underscored his message that Maharashtra deserves leadership that respects Ambedkar’s vision and will protect the state’s resources from misuse. The rally, part of Modi’s broader campaign push in Maharashtra, seeks to draw a sharp contrast between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, positioning BJP as the party committed to Ambedkar’s ideals and state sovereignty.
As Maharashtra gears up for the assembly election, PM Modi’s statements reflect a strategic appeal to voters, highlighting both economic responsibility and a commitment to Ambedkar’s legacy as core issues.
