Hyderabad: In a bid to raise awareness about the rising cases of breast cancer in India, MEIL (Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd.) and the Sudha Reddy Foundations organized the Pink Power Run 2024, a large-scale marathon held on September 29th at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy attended the event, offering encouraging words to the participants and highlighting the significance of health and early detection in the fight against breast cancer.
The event united thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds to debunk myths surrounding breast cancer, promote early detection and treatment initiatives, and celebrate the resilience of the human spirit.
With race categories of 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km, the Pink Power Run attracted a sizable number of competitors who were dedicated to fighting cancer. Specialized racing kits, wholesome refreshments, and pre- and post-marathon workout advice were given to participants.
Revanth Reddy at the Pink Power Run 2024 event in Hyderabad, This electrifying Pink Power Run was kicked off by Sudha Reddy, the founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation, P.V. Krishna Reddy, the managing director of MEIL, and Telangana’s minister of health, Damodar Raja Narasimha.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the government’s dedication to enhancing the state’s healthcare system while expressing his joy at being a part of the event. As women’s health is the cornerstone of the wellbeing of families and communities, he pledged to fortify hospitals and other healthcare facilities to address women’s health. According to him, Telangana’s women’s future is now brighter and more empowered thanks to the Pink Power Run event. He also expressed his gratitude to Sudha Reddy, Megha Krishna Reddy, and all of the attendees for organizing the occasion.
Pink Power Run is not just a race
“Pink Power Run is not just a race; it is a platform to share the inspiring stories of cancer survivors, to motivate others, and to build a supportive community,” stated Sudha Reddy, Chairperson of the SR Foundation. Together, we can remove social myths, dissolve mental obstacles, and enable people to take control of their health.” Additionally, Mrs. Sudha Reddy stated, “I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who took part in this important event that aims to raise awareness about breast cancer and give hope to those affected.” We are getting closer to a world free of cancer with every step we take today.”
In the men’s division of the 10 km marathon, Love Preet emerged victorious, followed by Mohan in first place and Arish Yadav in second. N. Parvathi, a 6-year-old girl, captured everyone’s attention by finishing the 10-kilometer run. Seema triumphed in the women’s division, with Sanjeevani finishing as the second runner-up. The 10 km marathon champions took home ₹2,50,000, followed by ₹1,75,000 for the first runner-up and ₹1,00,000 for the second. Shankar Lal became victorious in the men’s 5 km marathon, while cash awards were awarded to the first and second runners, Akhil Kumar and Aman Kumar, respectively. Comparably, Preeti won the women’s division, Sonika finished first runner-up, and Reenu s the second runner-up, also receiving cash rewards
The first runner-up took home ₹1,00,000, the second runner-up ₹75,000, while the champions of the 5 km marathon took home ₹1,25,000. At the prize distribution ceremony were Revanth Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana; MEIL MD Krishna Reddy; Sudha Reddy; Usha Lakshmi; and Christina, a government officer. The attempt by thousands of people, young and old, to create a massive human image of a bird dressed entirely in pink in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record was one of the event’s highlights. This visually striking formation symbolized unity, hope, and the unwavering resolve to combat breast cancer.
Sudha Reddy concluded the event with heartfelt thanks to the Government of Telangana, Olectra, AIG Hospital, marathon participants, and volunteers for their contributions in making the event a resounding success.
