Siddhivinayak Laddu Controversy: A viral video allegedly showed baby rats in laddu packets, sparking concern. However, the temple trust has dismissed the claims, stating the video was not filmed on temple grounds. An investigation will be conducted to uncover the truth. The famous Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai has come under investigation after it was reported that rats had been discovered in the prasadam (holy food). Concern was raised by a widely shared video that allegedly showed baby rats within laddu packs. The video was not shot on temple property, according to the temple trust, which has vehemently refuted the allegations. In spite of this, the trust has opened an inquiry to resolve the matter and guarantee openness.
Amidst the continuing dispute at the Tirupati temple regarding the usage of animal fat in laddu prasadam, a new problem has surfaced at the Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai. Racism has been sparked by a video that went popular on social media and showed rodents inside laddu prasadam packaging.
Notably, the alleged video caused devotees to worry about the prasadam’s safety and hygienic conditions. The controversy regarding the usage of “animal fat” in Tirupati Prasadam at the Andhra Pradesh temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara has prompted this.
Some baby rats were allegedly discovered in the packs, according to the popular video. The temple trust, however, rejected the accusations and stated that although the video was not taken on the temple grounds, an inquiry would be made to ascertain the facts.
“A blue container and rats in a plastic bag are shown in the video. Every day, thousands of laddus are given out at the shrine, and the preparation area is always immaculate. However, the video depicts an unclean setting, and I can affirm it was not made at the temple; it looks to have been recorded elsewhere. I don’t know why this is being done. “We will carefully examine the video and carry out a comprehensive investigation. We have CCTV monitoring,” stated Sadanand Shankar Sarvankar, the head of the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganpati Mandir Trust.

Veena Patil, the executive officer of Siddhivinayak Temple, responded to the viral posts by saying, “The temple premises are not visible in the photos and videos.” A DCP-level officer will launch an investigation, and a committee will be established.
This occurs a few days after the renowned Tirupati Temple in Andhra Pradesh’s laddu prasadam was exposed to ascanner.
On September 18, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asserted that Tirupati laddoos made under the previous administration, when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy served as the state’s chief minister, included animal fat.
A similar dispute surfaced earlier in the day at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, when a female follower claimed to have discovered tobacco inside a laddu that was being served as prasadam, wrapped in paper.
Donthu Padmavati, a devotee from the Khammam area, revealed that she visited the temple on September 19 and that it was during her preparations to give the prasadam to her neighbors that she found the tobacco.
She showed in her video testimony how shocked she was to discover tobacco particles within the laddu, wrapped in a little piece of paper.
Meanwhile, the country’s food safety regulator has issued a show-cause notice to a Tamil Nadu-based company for allegedly supplying substandard ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, the temple authority responsible for the renowned Tirupati laddus. Calls for a thorough investigation and strict action over the alleged use of animal fat in the preparation of the sacred laddus have intensified.
On Monday, a four-hour purification ritual was conducted at the revered Tirumala temple to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara Swamy, following accusations of “sacrilegious practices,” including the alleged mixing of animal fats in the preparation of Tirupati laddus and other offerings, according to temple sources.
In response to allegations of rat presence in the prasadam at Mumbai’s Siddhivinayak Temple, the temple trust has firmly denied the claims, emphasizing its strict hygiene and quality control measures in the preparation and distribution of the offerings. While concerns have been raised, the trust has assured devotees that the prasadam is handled with the utmost care and cleanliness, and there is no evidence to support the accusations. Authorities may investigate further to address the concerns, but the temple maintains that the allegations are baseless.
