A terror strike in the Ganderbal area of Jammu & Kashmir Sunday night claimed the lives of six construction workers and a doctor. A camp containing employees of a private enterprise who were constructing a tunnel was shot at by the terrorists.

In a shocking terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, six individuals, including a doctor, lost their lives. The victims were identified as Dr. Shahnawaz from Budgam, Gurmeet Singh from Gurdaspur, Mohammad Haneef, Faheem Nasir (a safety manager), and Kaleem from Bihar, Anil Kumar Shukla (a mechanical manager) from Madhya Pradesh, and Shashi Abrol, a designer from Jammu.
The attackers left behind an INSAS rifle and burned two vehicles belonging to the company involved in the infrastructure project. The ongoing search operation has led police to restrict media access, with journalists being stopped at Manigam, 50 km from the attack site.
Newly-elected Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, condemned the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, calling it a “dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local labourers.” He emphasized the victims were working on a key infrastructure project and expressed his condolences to their families. “Two have been killed, and 2-3 more have been injured in this militant attack,” Mr. Abdullah stated.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari also condemned the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as “horrific.” In a post on X, he referred to the labourers as “innocent” and emphasized their work on a crucial infrastructure project.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi expressed solidarity, stating, “Acts like killing innocent civilians and spreading violence and terror among the general public are crimes against humanity.” She reaffirmed that the country stands united against such acts of terror.
The terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir comes just days after the body of a Bihar labourer was found with bullet injuries in the Shopian district, adding to growing concerns over the safety of non-local workers in the region.
