US Election Countdown
With just 11 days until the US Election, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are intensifying their campaigns. Harris has been focused on Georgia, where she’s appealing to middle-class voters with a big rally that drew about 20,000 attendees. The event had star power, too, with support from musician Bruce Springsteen, former President Barack Obama, filmmaker Spike Lee, and actor Tyler Perry joining Harris on stage.
Meanwhile, Trump has been holding rallies in Arizona and Nevada, delivering energetic speeches to his supporters. At his Arizona event, Trump criticized Harris’s recent CNN town hall, calling her performance “pathetic,” as both candidates continue their back-and-forth attacks.
What the Polls Are Saying
As of Thursday, over 30 million Americans have already cast their votes, setting records for early voting in several states. However, this year’s early voting numbers are lower than in 2020 when the pandemic led more than 100 million people to vote before Election Day.
A recent Financial Times poll shows Trump slightly ahead of Harris on economic trust, with 44% of respondents backing Trump on the economy compared to 43% for Harris. These numbers suggest that Harris’s economic messaging may be struggling to connect in the final days.
According to FiveThirtyEight’s poll tracker, Harris currently holds a slim 1.7-point lead over Trump in national polls, though the gap is tightening as Election Day approaches.
Here is a summary of the poll data from October 21 to October 24, 2024:

---|---|---|---|---|
Harris | 48.1% | 48.1% | 48.1% | 48.2% |
Trump | 46.4% | 46.4% | 46.3% | 46.4% |
